Chicago, Illinois -- In addition to the 103rd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony on Sunday, July 22nd, there are two additional events this weekend commemorating the Eastland Disaster.

On Friday, July 20th, Patricia Sutton is presenting her book, Capsized! The Forgotten Story of the S.S. Eastland Disaster, at the Chicago Maritime Museum. After the presentation, participants are invited to view CMM’s display of Eastland Disaster artifacts. The open house is from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 7:30 p.m. The CMM is free on the third Friday of the month, but the presentation is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members. Parking is free on the north side of the building.

On Saturday, July 21st, a brief memorial service will be held at the Old Lighthouse Museum in Michigan City, Indiana. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the United States Coast Guard will place a memorial wreath in Trail Creek with Father Lev of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church leading the service. Immediately following the Memorial Service, Patricia Sutton will present and sign copies of her new book.
