OTHER NOTES:

...boarded with his younger brother...

Anton Brychta was 37 years old when he boarded the Eastland with his younger brother, Joseph.

Joseph and Anton both lost their lives in the Disaster, and the Brychta family was one of many that was impacted greatly by loss. The deaths of these two brothers left behind a wife with two young daughters (ages 2 and 6 months), and another wife with three young daughters (ages 4, 6, and 7) and one son (age 3).

Anton's wife, Christina, went to work for Western Electric shortly after the tragedy. She was hired on August 9. Because Western Electric lost hundreds of employees in the Eastland Disaster, many had to be replaced. The company gave preference to hiring back immediate family members of the victims -- as evidenced by Christina's employment after the loss of Anton.
