Joseph A. Brychta was 31 years old when he boarded the Eastland with his older brother, Anton. Joseph is seen here on his wedding day with his wife Hazel, who was not aboard the Eastland on that tragic day.

Joseph and Anton both lost their lives in the Disaster, and the Brychta family was one of many that was impacted greatly by loss. The deaths of these two brothers left behind a wife with two young daughters (ages 2 and 6 months), and another wife with three young daughters (ages 4, 6, and 7) and one son (age 3).
