Mrs. J. O'Keeffe (right) and her daughter Katherine (left) were thrown into the Chicago River when the Eastland turned over. The mother and daughter were rescued by the crew of the steamer Petoskey.

Sadly, the two nieces of Mrs. J. O'Keeffe, Catherine and Hanora Moynihan, both perished in the tragedy.

The photo of the two survivors shows them still wrapped in blankets.
