Dora Schroth lived with her older married sister, Caroline Schroth Affeld, at the Affeld home in Frankfort, Illinois. She was a telephone polisher at the Hawthorne Works where she had worked for nearly three years.
The Western Electric Company benefit of $77 plus the Eastland Fund gift of $200 was sent to her parents.
Dora's other married sister, Anna Schroth Klier, could not go to the picnic with her sisters because her husband told her that she had to cook lunch for their farm's thrashers (oat season). As a result, Anna was spared.
