...he was going to stay home...
On the morning of the Eastland Disaster, despite the fact that plans had been made for the entire Sklenicka family to attend the Western Electric employee picnic, Jaroslav Sklenicka's wife and children all stayed home being very sick with the flu.
Jaroslav himself was going to stay home with his family, but his wife Anna urged him to go and enjoy himself since he was the only member of the family that was well. Jaroslav did not return from the picnic, a casualty of the Eastland Disaster.
Jaroslav is buried in the Eastland section of the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
