Karl Stehlik worked as a machinist at Western Electric. He was born in Bohemian Austria but was brought to the USA by his parents when he was four years old.

Karl died aboard the Eastland with his intended wife Blanche Rudcki. Their marriage was to have been celebrated in two weeks.

Karl's funeral was from his home to the residence of his sweetheart Blanche, and from there to the Five Holy Martyrs Church.
