Andrew M. White

The EASTLAND DISASTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY preserves and shares the names, faces, and stories of the tens of thousands of people affected by the tragedy.
ANDREW M. WHITE

In April 2011, Andrew M. White readied his new musical about the Eastland Disaster by organizing a concert presentation at Milennium Park. The purpose of the performance was to further develop what would be a full-fledged production of "Eastland: A New Musical." The musical premiere was June 6, 2012 at the Lookingglass Theatre (inside the historic Water Tower Pumping Station on Michigan Avenue in Chicago).

Andy's musical was the first (and to date, the only) production that creates in people a lasting memory of the history of the Eastland Disaster due to the high level of emotions that are evoked in those who experience the production.

To acknowledge and celebrate Andy's heartfelt and passionate contributions to EDHS, the EDHS Board of Trustees voted unanimously to create a permanent legacy honoring his contributions. (Read the board's declaration here.)

This honorary webpage, plus a parcel of Eastland Disaster materials named in honor of Andy that were donated to the Newberry Library, serve as reminders of Andy's lasting legacy to EDHS, its community of followers, and the public in general.
